Welcome
Recently, I have been encouraged to "speak up" and "speak out".  I figured what better way to do this than by launching a blog to go with my new website layout?  For those of you who don't know me, I'm Rachael... the younger of the two sisters that co-own Cymbidium.  After a year of doing our accounting (and hating my life) I was pushed by a slightly older and wiser sister to pursue my dreams of being a photographer.  A lot of research, a few trips to the camera store, and an extended stay abroad later... CYMBIDIUM photography was born.  It's been a few years now but the excitement of showing the world how I see things returns every time I pick up the camera and LOOK THROUGH MY LENS.

WHO IS THIS RACHAEL GIRL?!

I'm still trying to figure this one out myself but in the mean time here are some things I do know...
-I'll travel anywhere as long as I can take my camera.
-Goonies is my all time favorite movie, but Willy Wonka still gives me nightmares!
-You are never to old to play in the rain.
-I'm not scared to wear my Converse with a formal dress! I mean really, if you're 5'9 what's the point of heels?
-I love Ghana and go there often...Ask me about the Village of Hope and the Touch a Life Foundation.
-I've been known to stay up late staring at the stars.
-I watch the Disney Channel, and enjoy the Harry Potter and Twilight movies... yes, I am 13.
-I love road trips to random places and camping.
-I could listen to Fleetwood Mac all day.  Seriously could Stevie Nicks be any cooler?!
-I love the Discovery Channel because it helps me figure out where my next big scuba diving adventure should be.
-I'm a sports fan and remain faithful to my Dallas teams... especially my Mavs!
-I like long walks on the beach... seriously.

I currently live in the Dallas area and co-own Cymbidium, a floral and event design company, with my sister Robyn.  I shoot weddings and lifestyle portraits globally and am often commissioned by non-profits both locally and abroad to photographically document their cause.

WHAT'S THIS BLOG ABOUT?

If you LOOK THROUGH MY LENS you'll eventually see a pattern.  Three things that inspire me daily are Love, Hope and Faith.

Love:  This section will contain the majority of my entries.  I mean really, who doesn't love love?  I'll talk about people that love (yes, engagement/ bridals/ wedding photos will be found here), people I love, places I love to go, things I love to do, even equipment and gear I love to sport.

Hope:  In this section you'll find things that give hope, goals, dreams, stories of inspiration, etc.

Faith:  No full out sermons here, just an imperfect girl with a Savior unashamedly appreciating things He's done.
